Free-motion quilting is a great way to finish your quilt. If you have never been brave enough to try it, or are unsure where to start, this is the class for you! It’s a great way to use your sewing machine creatively. It is not difficult; you don’t even need to be artistic to get some great results. This class will give you the
confidence and skills to finally quilt your own quilts on your home sewing machine.
This is a 2 part class.
Day 1 is required to attend. We will have a discussion on threads, needles and quilting feet. You will learn how to set your machine up for free-motion quilting and how to “drop the feed dogs”. We will review the correct darning foot and walking foot for your machine. Please bring your owner’s manual.
Day 2: You will learn to use a walking foot for straight line foundation quilting. After that, we will move on to extensive covering of free-motion quilting. You will also learn how to handle large quilts on your domestic machine.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
SKILL DETAILS: All levels welcome. Class requires a good working order machine with the ability to drop feed dogs. A Singer Featherweight is not a good choice for Free-motion quilting.
CLASS SIZE; 12 max. Must be able to attend both dates.
